Most visitors need a visa to enter Tanzania. You can apply online through the official Tanzania immigration e-visa system before you travel, or, for many nationalities, get a visa on arrival at an international airport or land border.
What to have ready
- A passport valid for at least six months from the date you plan to leave Tanzania
- A printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket
- Proof of where you will stay
- Payment for the fee by card or in cash
A standard tourist visa is normally valid for three months and allows multiple entries from neighbouring Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
